       The land of dawn-lit-mountains i.e. the land of rising Sun is Arunachal Pradesh where mountains are high red during the dawn. In the ancient period it is called Udayachal and Udaygiri. The capital of Arunachal is Itanagar. It is surrounded by Myanmar in the east, Tibet to the North and Bhutan to the west. It shares it border with Myanmar, China and Bhutan. Brahmaputra has descended from China and entered Arunachal with its course leading from north to south. Five hilly rivers that are Kameng, Subansiri, Siang, Lohit, and Tirap are flowing down the horse-hoof shaped Arunachal like a snow white silver ribbon. On one side of Arunachal are sky-high snow-white Himalayas while the other side is the homeland of forest tribes living side by side with the rare species of wild animals in the valley shaded by ancient forest. It is an exclusive hill state with deep green shades. Arunachal is highly enriched in Forest resources. The forest of Arunachal is full with rare species of plants and herbs. 62% of the state’s area is forest land.  500 species of orchids are found here and it is also the homeland of young arrogant hilly rivers. Tipi in Arunachal Pradesh is world famous for orchid garden.

          Namdapha Tiger Reserve is in the Changlang district of Arunachal at North eastern border of India with Myanmar. Sky high ever green forest, snow covered mountain-top, trees shedding leaves together with Alpine forest make a unique presentation. One can find various species of butterflies in this place. Apart from the tigers various species of monkeys and antelopes are also available at Namdapha.  It is a free region for elephants and bison. Vijaynagar is the centre of Buddhist culture in Arunachal with a Buddhist Monastery.  Arunachal State Emporium, on the hill top, the polo park i.e. Botanical Garden and a mini zoo are important land-marks of this state. Achin river flows down the town. Akashiganga waterfall in Along is another main attraction of this state.

 

Demography-

        Principal language of this region is Monpa, Aka, Mizi, Khamti. Other tribal languages are also used in Arunachal. In Government offices English is used. Bengali, Assamese and Hindi language are also used. A rice producing state, rice is the principal food. The rate of literacy in Arunachal is 55%. Agriculture and Forest Resources are the primary sources of livelihood. Agriculture primarily derives the economy. Thus people of Arunachal are generally averse to industries.  

 

Climate-

        Arunachal Pradesh receives heavy rainfall between May- Septembers. Rest of the time of the year it has a pleasant climate. An ideal time for the tourist to visit Arunachal is from October- February.
